ChangeMaker Education has partnered with the San Francisco Public Library’s (awesome) new teen space to roll out a curriculum pilot called The Resilience Challenge. The Resilience Challenge is a 10-week social impact competition and bootcamp for people ages 13-24. Participants learn to use technology, design & the startup mindset to tackle the world’s biggest problems, starting right in their own backyards.
Our goal with the Challenge is to test a scalable design thinking and social entrepreneurship curriculum that can be run with large numbers of students and limited facilitation. But it’s always nice to start with a bang, which is why our 34 participants gathered with us at The Mix on Tuesday to meet each other, form teams, play with some fun tech, and begin to dig into the Challenge. Huge thanks to mentor Desi Matel-Anderson for joining us via Skype to talk about the importance of technical innovation is disaster response scenarios!
The evening ended with the formation of five teams ready to tackle the challenge: “How might we reduce carbon emissions while increasing community resilience in the Bay Area?”
